The ABDNHA Desert Garden |
Book Reference |
The ABDNHA
Desert Garden is a place of reflection and beauty, alive with
plants from North America's major deserts, along with birds,
butterfiles, rabbits, and other desert creatures, in the heart
of Borrego Springs.
Stroll across a wooden bridge
over a dry creek bed to enter a unique desert garden,
artistically designed with creatively placed plants and
interesting outdoor spaces. Trees such as palo verde,
mesquite, and palms provide shade and shelter as you follow
along a path with interpretive signs that tell the story of
desert plants, the replationships with bird and animals, and
give a overview of the agricultural history of Borrego Springs.
The garden is also a great spot for birders and
photographers, particularly during the springtime, when
hummingbirds are plentiful, feeding on the blooming flowers and
often nesting in the garden, along with other spring migrants as
they pass through the area.
The garden is located behind
the ADBNHA Desert Nature Center and Store and administrative
offices, at 652 Palm Canyon Drive, just west of Carlee's
Restaurant. The garden is open to the public without
charge from dawn until dusk every day of the week.
