Trailing Windmills

While the desert sand verbena is found in the sand, trailing windmills, likewise a member of the four o’clock family, turns up in sandy soil, but usually on rocky slopes. This cheerful little flower can be one of the first plant to greet hikers on desert trails, and one of the last to go away as the heat of summer approaches.
