Brittlebush

The bold yellow flowers of brittlebush are among the first desert blooms to appear in spring and among the last to fade under the heat of summer. During the rest of the year, these plants contribute to desert color with their blue-green foliage. Look for them along roadsides and in the mountains west of the desert. Other Encelia species are Acton’s Encelia and Rayless Encelia. Similar in appearance: Parish’s Golden-Eyes.
