View Mason Valley Pink Teddy-Bear Cholla and other unique plants on an easy-to-moderate walk through cactus-filled terrain. Wear hiking clothes, boots, and a hat; bring water and sunscreen. No charge; open to the public; registration required. Meet at the ABDNHA parking lot at 9 a.m. to caravan. Register at the Nature Center or 760-767-3098.

The San Jacinto Mountains are a region of special interest to plant lovers. These peaks reach higher elevations than the mountains of San Diego County, giving rise to some unusual and fascinating species. The San Jacinto Mountains are also a thoroughly pleasant destination for summer hiking, featuring dense forest, rocky crags, and numerous trails. Don Rideout will present photos of both common and rare species, some found nowhere else. Registration required: General Public $12, Members $10, Volunteers $8. If you are interested in desert plants, then the Botany Club is the place to be. This is an informal gathering.
