ANZA-BORREGO SOUTH : ROADS Mountain Palm Springs
California Fan Palms, Washingtonia filifera, in Mountain Palm Springs
The groves of Mountain Palm Springs are popular with thirsty birds and animals.
Hikers enjoy the look, sounds, and fragrance of the trees, and the shade.
A trail from one of the groves leads up a hill to Torote Bowl. It is possible
to hike south to Bow Willow or north to Indian Gorge. There is a primitive
campground.
The jeep trail from County Road S-2 is through a large grove of Pink Teddy-Bear
Cholla, Anza-Borrego's tallest cactus.
