Vista del Malpais is a popular point for viewing the Borrego Badlands.

Getting to Vista del Malpais. [4WD recommended.] Drive County Road S-22 east of Borrego Springs. At Call Box S22-319, turn south on the unpaved Thimble Trail and follow it to its terminus at Short Wash. Turn left (east) and watch for the the Vista del Malpais trail
