Anza-Borrego North: Truckhaven Trail East
You will have good views of Clark Valley, the surrounding
mountains, and the fault environment. The light-colored ground extending
horizontally across the middle of the photo above is a series of fault scarps,
the result of a combination of erosion and earthquake-caused earth movements.
The Truckhaven Trail returns to S-22 at Call Box S22-319,
which has a parking area which can serve as a trailhead for walks north
to and around the Lute Fault Scarp (the largest esscarpment in the area).
Getting to the Truckhaven Trail east segment.
From Borrego Springs, take County Road S-22 east past the airport and follow
it north past the Pegleg Monument, then east two miles. Note that where S-22
starts to bend to the right a dirt road appears in front of you. This is the
west segment of the Truckhaven Trail described here. Behind you, another
segment can be followed to the vicinity of the Pegleg monument.
