Southbound Arroyo Salado Wash is a major off-road thoroughfare into Anza-Borrego Central, including Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area. There is a primitive state park campground just off the Borrego-Salton Seaway. The eastbound Truckhaven Trail departs Arroyo Salado Wash about a mile below the Borrego-Salton Seaway and can be hiked to the Borrego-Salton Seaway at the head of the Calcite Mine Road, crossing Cannonball Wash along the way.
