Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular Recreation Area
On weekends and holidays in the cooler months, Ocotillo Wells State Vehicular
Recreation Area will be crowded with hundreds if not thousands of people in
off-road vehicles. OWSVRA is their sandbox. The area's deep sands are definitely
4WD.
Most people who come here are content to drive and enjoy the roar of their
engines, the sting of sand in their faces, and challenges like seeing how
fast they can drive up or down steep hills.
There are, however, some places which can be enjoyed because of scenic interest,
preferably on quiet weekday mornings when most people are at work or in school.
