Yaqui Mammillaria, Mammillaria tetrancistra

The rarely seen flowers of Yaqui Mammillaria are likely to appear between 10 days and two weeks after a rain in summer or early fall. The flowers are preceded by a budding period of several days and last only one to two days. Yaqui Mammillaria grows in south-facing sandy spots, often near or under a rock or large shrub such as Ocotillo or California Juniper.
