Dr Jim and Grace Rickard report the following>

We were able to see comet ISON this morning about 4 a.m.  in the constellation Virgo low in the skies to the south of Borrego Springs.

It was close to a 6th magnitude star, which made is easy to locate in our 6-inch non-tracking Dobsonian telescope. We first spotted it on Nov 1, 2 and 4 when it appeared as a small, fuzzy speck. Now the tail is visible. However the image was so small that we could not see it with 10x50 binoculars, let alone the naked eye. Hopefully it will continue to brighten in the next few mornings.

Dr Jim Rickard will be presenting "Comets: A Crash Course" in the ABDNHA library on Friday December 6 at 3:30 PM.  No charge.  Call 760-767-3098 to register.
