El Cerro Centinela is the northernmost peak of the Sierra Cucapa in Baja California. Its northern slope reaches into the U.S. where it is known as Signal Mountain (the literal translation of its Spanish name, which is favored by historians such as Pourade and Lindsay) or Mount Signal. The Imperial County community of Mount Signal is nearby on Highway 98, west of Calexico.
