The groves of Mountain Palm Springs are popular with thirsty birds and animals. Hikers enjoy the look, sounds, and fragrance of the trees, and the shade. A trail from one of the groves leads up a hill to Torote Bowl. It is possible to hike south to Bow Willow or north to Indian Gorge. There is a primitive campground.

The jeep trail from County Road S-2 is through a large grove of Pink Teddy-Bear Cholla, Anza-Borrego's tallest cactus.
