Central Anza-Borrego: Pacific Crest Trail

The Pacific Crest Trail drops into the desert from the western mountains to Scissors Crossing, and immediately climbs into the mountains to Warner Springs. In the mountains from County Road S-1 (the Sunrise Highway), hikers can access the trail from Kwaaymii Point, Sunrise Trailhead, and Fages Monument.

The first yards of the PCT north of Highway 78 are always a good place to look for late spring wildflowers in bloom. While the San Felipe Valley Road (County Road S-2) is only about seven miles from Scissors Crossing to the Montezuma Valley Road (County Road S-22), the PCT distance is 24 miles as it winds around mountain canyons.
