This book was lovingly constructed to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the founding of ABDNHA, which to this day is "dedicated to educational, scientific and interpretive activities" in the Anza-Borrego desert. For the early leaders, building the State Park Visitor Center emerged as their primary goal. Taking their cue from desert animals who burrow to survive the summer heat, they decided to build an underground structure in a natural hollow, and to landscape it with natural rocks and plants. A study in patience and fortitude.
